I know...MORE photos?? Yeesh...

It's not like I planned this! Dahlia and I took a nice walk today and when we got back, our next door neighbor had our across the road neighbors over and all the dogs were in the fenced in back yard playing. They invited us over, so Dahlia and I joined them. I went to get David and the 5 of us hung out with all the dogs.

The dogs were Krieger (GSD puppy, only 5 months old but MASSIVE -- 60 lbs already!), Douglas (some sort of lab/BC/something mix), Hershey (a somewhat overweight black and brown lab mix), Sadie (a 17 year old small white dog), and Dahlia. It was The (Mostly) Big Black Dog Convention.

Pictures, of course, had to be taken.

Sadie has cysts near both her eyes. The vet decided that operating on her at her age would be worse than leaving them there, since she didn't seem to be bothered by them. So she looks a little freaky here.

Throw ball please?

Stop with the pictures and throw ball!

Ok...teasing with ball must stop!

Dude...what's with all the barking?

Ball! Finally!

There's a cat in our area...this freaky looking white feral cat. He's long haired and incredibly ratty. Last year, the folks who used to live upstairs managed to trap him because he was looking like hell. They got him to a vet, got him shaved down, got him neutered, and tested for various diseases. He was generally ok, so he was then released back into the wild. We see him around a lot. He sleeps in our garage. We named him Captain Feral and today I FINALLY got pictures of him!

do you or your neighbor friend know of any gsd breeders in the area? my sister is looking for a puppy and hasn't had any any luck. well, there is a german woman with puppies that would sell her a pet quality dog for $2000... so any help would be great. even a breeder that doesn't have pups now might be able to refer her to someone...

Poor Captain Feral. He does really need to be shaved down again. I can't imagine it's easy for a long-haired cat to be out on its own.

I don't know any offhand. I wouldn't recommend the place she got Krieger from. It was some BYB hellhole. She felt more like she was paying ransom to get the dog out than buying a dog (and she reported the guy apparently, so we'll see what happens there). I know the guy who took the CGC class with me breeds, but I don't know his last name and I don't know much about the quality of his dogs. He seemed like a decent guy with a decent dog and his making sure of temperament and doing the CGC was something at least. I'll check around and see what's up!

that would be great. thanks. just looking for a family dog. she'll probably do basic obedience with it, but she's not into the performance stuff.

I'm not sure if there is. I'd have to check into it. He's a pretty savvy cat too though -- it took her over a year to trap him the last time. According to the neighbors he's at least 10 years old because they've been seeing him since they got into the neighborhood.

The time he saw a vet they said he was pretty healthy...matted but healthy. He really is a sad looking cat isn't he? :-(
