Skytop Quarry

Recently we discovered this awesome abandoned quarry to go walking in. I had NO idea it was up beyond Skytop until recently and so now it's becoming our new favourite place to walk (because going around the pond has become really old!). I took my camera out today. I mostly used the new 28mm (f/2.8) and my 70-210mm which never gets enough love.

Dahlia's pantaloons were getting SO LONG that I cut them back...a bit too much. Her back legs look funny.

I looked down and saw THIS, which totally made me smile. Sometimes I really love living in the university neighborhood because people do stuff like this!

That line down the hill and into the quarry? Yeah crazy bikers do that. That first hill is nearly a cliff.

It was such an awesome find. I can't believe I've lived here for 3 1/2 years and didn't know about it.

And thank you! She is indeed a pretty dog, even if I did a horrid job trimming her fur. I am not a groomer that's for sure! lol

Steve is just relieved that he doesn't have to have his pants trimmed. So am I, because he'd probably maim me if I tried :p

Haha! Oh Steve. LOL Dahlia was fine with it. I get tired of her PEEING on her own fur. Sometimes I do a good job trimming them up and then sometimes, well, I overdo it a bit and she looks silly!

Don't you just LOVE dogs who mug for the camera? Dahlia is the total queen of stopping and posing, looking noble, I swear!

all three dogs pose. walter is the best at it, and he looks more like a mastiff in the face now with all the dips and wrinkles so it makes taking photos of him fun. i need to find the cord for my camera so i can download almost 6 months worth of photos. gah. i hate that the cable went on a hike. i am sure it is around here somewhere......

What a great place. Very eerie, in a way. And, as always, great shots all round, including of the most photogenic dog this side of the Rocky Mountains. I especially like the ones of her in the snow.

It's REALLY eerie. I kept thinking it looked like a post-apocalyptic scene or something.

And she's SO photogenic. The fact that she poses helps! lol

Great photos! The place seems to be very quiet and nice for reflecting.

The picture of the bricks (I'm guessing they're bricks?) makes them look like apartment buildings. It just got me thinking of Mister Rogers and his pretend neighborhood!
